A sojourn is a brief, temporary stay in one place. For both of us, Kentucky is a place that we call home—Abby has always lived here, and Anna has lived here for the past four years. We’ve realized, though, that Kentucky is just a brief stop for us as we move on to Albania and then the open future that follows; and similarly, life on this earth is only a brief sojourn in the broader scope of eternity. Nevertheless, Kentucky will always hold a special spot in our hearts, and this artwork is an expression of the beauty we have found here.


How strange is the lot of us mortals! Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose he knows not, though he senses it. But without deeper reflection one knows from daily life that one exists for other people.
